Family First Federal Credit Union and Bishop Kearney High School/A Golisano Education Partner, announced the creation of an innovative student branch based at the school in Irondequoit. The student branch, a first for the Penfield- based Family First Federal Credit Union, will be located in the heart of the high school at the student book store. Hours of operation will be from 11:30 to 1:00 on Mondays, and 2:00 to 3:30 on Thursdays. Accessible to students, faculty and parents, the student branch will provide many of the services now offered at Family First's three branches.
"This collaboration enhances and reinforces the philosophy around our new curriculum started last year through our partnership with Paychex founder Tom Golisano," said Kearney President and CEO Donna Dedee. "We are focused on teaching our students new and crucial skills for the 21st century marketplaceāand our new partnership with Family First is a perfect example of how we will do that."
Bishop Kearney students have been hired and trained to work side by side with Family First staff. They will play an integral part in branch operations. The lessons the students will learn via this access to credit union operations will work hand-in-hand with new business and personal finance curriculum being developed by Kearney faculty and Family First Credit Union professionals.
"The branch will provide students with an opportunity to learn and participate and accomplish their financial transactions in a mini workplace environment", added Karin Allen, Family First Director of Branch Operations.
The curriculum for this program was provided as part of the ongoing educational efforts of the NY Credit Union Foundation in cooperation with the National Endowment for Financial Education
