This past week, Bishop Kearney High School Students kicked of the Lenten Season with a special and moving presentation by Dr. Bill and Joanne Cala. This presentation spurred a school wide service project headed by seniors, Samantha Cala, Noelle Sippel, and Molly Schrieber. The Cala's head the organization, "Joining Hearts and Hands." This amazing organization is committed to connecting the Rochester community to a very different community: Kenya, Africa. "Joining Hearts and Hands" seeks to improve the health, educational, and economic needs of African children by building sanitary schools, kitchens, and latrines, as well as sponsoring health clinics and providing scholarships.
One of the schools recently built by the Cala's organization is called "Hannah's Hope": a classroom built in memory and spirit of one of the five Fairport girls who had the dream of helping orphans. To help benefit this organization, the three senior girls sponsoring the project will be hosting a talent show on April 2nd in Bishop Kearney's Auditorium begining at 7:00 PM. Money raised from ticket sales will go directly to "Joining Hearts and Hands."
