Fire Prevention Essay Contest

August 12, 2014

In the fall of 2013, all of the 7th and 8th grade students in Ms. Prinzing’s English Language Arts class entered into the 2013 Fire Prevention Essay Contest held by the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Inc. After judging, we were proud to hear that Bishop Kearney had more winners than any other school in Monroe county including Bryce Clark, Nick Bruno, Gabriella Plane, and Spencer Cattalani. 7th grader Bryce Clark won 1st place for the entire competition. After the winners were announced in early 2014, Bryce’s essay was forwarded to other contests sponsored by the Firemen’s Association the state of New York, Northern Central and Western New York Volunteer Firemen’s Associations. Bishop Kearney is proud to announce that on July 30th Bryce Clark accepted his second award for his essay, this time winning first place in the contest for 7th Grade in the Western NY Essay Contest. Attached is a picture of Bryce, holding his award, standing next to Firefighter Ralph Rizzo (left) and Chief Scott Zampatori. The presentation of the award was given by Mr. Alan C. Way, Past President – Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association. Bryce had several close family members attend the award ceremony as well who all celebrated with him after the event was over. Included is also a picture of all four of BK’s winners from early 2014. Congratulations, Bryce! Your Kearney family is very proud of you!
