November 4, 2015
Performing Friday Nov. 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the BK Auditorium is the student cast of the dramatic one act play — “The Insanity of Mary Girard”
We welcome you to an evening of entertainment as this chilling story is told by the theater students!
The opening act will be a special debut performance by the NEW BK Show Choir!
Direct from the truth-is-stranger-than-fic tion files comes Lanie Robertson’s “The Insanity
of Mary Girard.” It is a dramatic re-creation of the real-life story of a Philadelphia woman, Mary Girard, who spent the last 25 years of her life in a mental institution. She was committed by her husband, Stephen Girard, one of the wealthiest men in United States after the Revolutionary War. The play is set on the first night of Mary’s confinement, in the insane asylum, strapped into a “tranquilizing” chair.
