Poverty in the World

NJHS, very busy!

January 9, 2015

The National Junior Honor Society has been very busy lately!

On December 17th, Bishop Kearney High School’s 2014-2015 Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society made a donation to Honor Flight Rochester. The NJHS is made up of 12 freshman students who all agree this was a fantastic experience. These students took it upon themselves to hold a three day long bake sale and collected $165 to donate to HFR. They presented HFR with a beautiful thank you card (signed by all) to thank the folks who volunteer with Honor Flight Rochester for all that they do for our veterans. The NJHS also had the great pleasure of meeting Larry Strassner from the HFR’s Speaker’s Bureau who gave a very special presentation for them as well, where the students learned even more about the program and how they can continue to help this wonderful cause. Going forward, the NJHS plans to attend one of the “Welcome Home” events that HFR has planned for this spring. For more information about how you can help the NJHS help this cause in the future, or if you would like to accompany us to the springtime HFR Welcome Home event, please contact our National Junior Honor Society adviser, Ms. Jessica Prinzing, for details.
Other projects the NJHS was busy with before the holidays were making personalized Christmas cards and presents for 12 members at CDS Monarch and also helping our NHS members to make fleece blankets for children at Hillside. We are so proud of the great generosity and thoughtfulness that the NJHS is driven by this year and can’t wait to see what projects they have planned for 2015. Keep your eyes and ears open to hear about our upcoming service projects; more information will follow on the school’s website for ways you can help out too!
