BK Students Attend Conference at Nazareth College

Yesterday, twelve BK juniors, Mrs. Bianco, Mrs. Sheppard and Mr. Laliberte attended the 5th Global Citizenship Conference at Nazareth College. Along with almost 250 other high school students, they participated in workshops with a goal of gaining the knowledge to respond to religious, racial and cultural intolerance in today’s society.

Fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

The Bishop Kearney National Honor Society’s final service project for this school year is Pennies for Patients, our annual fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It began on Monday, March 9th and continues until Friday, March 20th. Students are encouraged to donate their spare change. The grade that collects the most money will receive a dress-down day. Your change can make a change!

BK girls basketball team beats Wilson

The BK girls basketball team beat Wilson Monday night in the semi finals 73-47.

Kharysma Bryant had 30 points and 8 rebounds. Princella McCullah had 7 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Ari Smith had 11 points and 6 steals. Bri Mason had 10 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds. The Lady Kings go to the sectional final on Friday at Victor, where they play Mercy high school at 7pm. This will be the Lady Kings fifth appearance in the sectional final, and they are looking for their fourth championship win. Please join us in congratulating the ladies on their success so far and in wishing them good luck on Friday night!

Donate your non-perishable food items

During the Lenten season, from now until March 27th, BK is collecting non-perishable food items to donate to Bethany House.

The following items would be greatly appreciated: Peanut Butter, Jelly, Pasta, Canned Soups, Canned Fruit and Canned Vegetables.

BK has partnered with Bethany House in the past and we know that they are so grateful when we deliver the food boxes. All donated items should be brought to the Campus Ministry room A141. Thank you for your support!

BK student wins 1st place in essay contest

For the second year in a row, a Bishop Kearney middle school student has won 1st place in the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Fire Prevention Essay Contest.

Middle school students from all over Monroe County submitted essays on this year’s topic,Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month. But wait.. there’s more.. not only did one of our students take 1st place, but we have seven winners from BK in the top ten places. The winners are:

1st place: Alicia Opett (8th Grade)
4th place: Jamal Williams (8th Grade)
5th place: Samantha Dickson (8th Grade)
6th place: Kateri Maurer (8th Grade)
7th place: Caroline Hubbel (7th Grade)
8th place: Patrick Tanner (7th Grade)
10th place: Kashindi Scholstique (8th Grade)

Congratulations to all seven of our middle school winners and to all students who participated. The representatives from the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association shared with the middle school how impressed they were with all of this year’s submissions at the award ceremony on Monday, March 2nd. Be sure to stop by and visit Ms. Prinzing’s ELA classroom to see the ”traveling trophy” that we have now claimed for two years in a row!
