All students entering our high school or middle school for the first time will be in attendance for this event. On this day, all new students, grades 6-12, should report to the school auditorium by 8:00am in full uniform. We want to make sure that each new student to our school takes the time to become familiar with our building, teachers, expectations, and their peers as well. Included with this orientation will be guided tours of the building and a meet and greet with the entire faculty and administration. There will be no busing for this orientation.  Students must make arrangements for their own transportation.

September 7th & 8th    CLASS ORIENTATIONS

The purpose of these two days is to set the tone and expectations for this school year. All students will arrive on campus in proper uniform, pick up a folder in the foyer and report to the auditorium. Students will attend meetings with their entire class and hear from their administrators, counselors and teachers. Students will also receive their schedules and have time to set up their lockers. We strongly encourage students to bring shelves for their locker so that you can get organized right from the beginning of the year.

Student Athletes from Across the Continent to Live and Learn at BKHS this Fall

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (August 25, 2016) – Today Bishop Kearney High School, a Golisano Education Partner, held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the first-ever Selects Academy girls’ residence hall in the United States. The program brings elite youth hockey players from around the world to live and learn at Bishop Kearney while competing in the country’s highest level of girls’ hockey.IMG_0152

The school renovated the unused third-floor that previously housed faculty and staff during the 1960’s to 1990’s. The space has been completely transformed into elegant residence hall for both student athletes and international exchange students. The residence hall is modeled after a sophisticated college dorm and is complete with 40 student rooms, a full kitchen and dining hall, fitness room and lounge areas.

“With construction completed we’re officially the first Selects Academy program for girls in the country,” said Bishop Kearney President Steve Salluzzo. “We’re excited to welcome our first class of student athletes into this unique, nurturing environment where they will be able to pursue both their academic and athletic dreams.”

Selects Hockey, a division of LEGACY Global Sports, is an internationally acclaimed youth program that gives young athletes from across the globe the opportunity to compete against the best in their sport while also receiving high-quality academics.

“On September 1st we will welcome student athletes from across the continent as they move into this great space and set the stage for a long and successful girls hockey program here at Bishop Kearney,” said Bishop Kearney Girls Residence Director and Head Hockey Coach Chris Baudo.

Bill Grays Regional Iceplex (BGRI) will be the on-ice home for the Selects Academy for Girls at Bishop Kearney. The team will practice, play home games and receive off-ice training at BGRI. The Iceplex will also be the venue for all future international Legacy Global Sports hockey tournaments in the region and will continue to hold player development programs and camps for elite hockey teams/players throughout the yearIMG_0158.IMG_0105
