For the second year in a row, a Bishop Kearney middle school student has won 1st place in the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Fire Prevention Essay Contest.
Middle school students from all over Monroe County submitted essays on this year’s topic,Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month. But wait.. there’s more.. not only did one of our students take 1st place, but we have seven winners from BK in the top ten places. The winners are:
1st place: Alicia Opett (8th Grade)
4th place: Jamal Williams (8th Grade)
5th place: Samantha Dickson (8th Grade)
6th place: Kateri Maurer (8th Grade)
7th place: Caroline Hubbel (7th Grade)
8th place: Patrick Tanner (7th Grade)
10th place: Kashindi Scholstique (8th Grade)
Congratulations to all seven of our middle school winners and to all students who participated. The representatives from the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association shared with the middle school how impressed they were with all of this year’s submissions at the award ceremony on Monday, March 2nd.
