An Immersive Cultural Experience

BK welcomes 35 students from around the world every year. Whether you come for a few months, a full semester, or several years, expect an immersive cultural experience you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

Experience American culture first-hand when you live with a local host family and share in their meals and traditions. Plus, enjoy adventures to New York State attractions and cities like the Big Apple, Niagara Falls, Letchworth State Park, maple sugaring, snow tubing, and a maize maze.

In school, you'll discover different perspectives learning alongside American and International students. And with dedicated academic support teachers, you can improve your English literacy and language skills. If you’re interested in continuing your education in the U.S., we’ll tour college campuses together and help you prepare for the TOEFL ibt or Duolingo.

Flexible Study Options

Bishop Kearney offers a variety of flexible study options for international students. Some students come to complete their entire high school education at BK, while others come for the exchange experience. Students have the option to spend a year, semester, trimester or even one or two months immersed in the Bishop Kearney community. Full year and semester students can earn credit for their study at BK.

Supportive Faculty

At Bishop Kearney we believe in providing opportunities for ALL students to succeed. International students are supported academically regardless of their English proficiency. We have a dedicated ESL teacher as well as academic support classes for students who may need a little extra support. The faculty are passionate and concerned with students' success.
Social Programming

Engaging with the school community leads to higher graduation rates and more fulfilling high school experiences! International students are highly encouraged to get involved in interscholastic sports and extracurricular activities. We also have additional social programming for international students which includes regular field trips and excursions, university visits, and team building events.
Homestay Program

Bishop Kearney runs a homestay program for international students. The benefit of staying with a host family is that international students get completely immersed in another culture and language. The experience allows students to develop and grow, learning from the family they are placed with. Extensive work goes into matching students with their host families to ensure a successful experience. Many of our international students maintain strong, life-long friendships with their host family long after they’ve left BK.

I can just say that my time spent at Bishop Kearney was so great and amazing! In fact it was one of the best times of my life. I really liked BK because of the school spirit they have. Everyone was kind and supportive and you could ask them any questions. It made it really easy for me to find friends.
